SBOTD Presents: Kayla Ramiscal, All Things Aussie Blogger for BabesDigBalls.com
(1.) In three words, how would your friends describe you?
Outrageous, driven, dramatic.
(2.) Who are your favourite athletes or sports teams to watch?
I have never met a sport I didn’t like so I love baseball, football, hockey and rugby — but I’m a basketball girl at heart. The Boston Celtics are my life. Rondo is amazing to watch. Since living in Australia, I’ve been obsessing over Aussie Rules football (AFL) and I’m a big Sydney Swans and GWS Giants supporter. Jeremy Cameron is my obsession.
(3.) Peanut butter: crunchy or smooth?
Smooth (low-fat version). No one should ever eat crunchy peanut butter.
(4.) I love SBOTD but I pay my bills by:
Going to school. I have a great scholarship J
(5.) What’s in your DVD collection and/or what’s your favourite book?
I’ve got hundreds of movies. We can’t get into it. My favourite book has always been The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
(6.) Growing up, did you have a role model or someone who inspired you to be who you are?
Cliché as it is – my mama bear, who is, by far, the strongest person I know. My sisters, grandparents, friends and people at my church were all amazing inspirations, as well. They believed in me, and I didn’t have the heart to let them down.
(7.) Who would you bring back from the dead and what would you say to them?
I wouldn’t – then you’d have to deal with the pain of losing them again.
(8.) What song do you sing at karaoke – or would you sing if you had to?
I’m a sucker for duets, so something from Grease, probably. Or, the classic “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor. Who doesn’t love that song?!
(9.) If you won a million dollars in a lottery, what would you do with it?
I’d buy my mother a house and save the remainder until I had the time to travel the world and never work again!
(10.) If you could interview any athlete, who would it be and why?
Paul Pierce, because he’s the reason I got into sports to begin with. Although, let’s be honest, I probably wouldn’t be able to speak.
(11.) If you could be a fly on the wall in any sports team locker room, which one would it be and why?
Any NHL team, although since Milan Lucic is my favourite player, probably the Boston Bruins. I would love to see the anarchy (or the lack thereof?) before a game!
(12.) Is there a motto, saying or core truth you try to live by?
“What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?” – It was even my yearbook quote!
(13.) Are you single, dating, or locked down? What do you notice first about the opposite sex?
Living with my boyfriend and loving it! I always notice if they’re smiling – I don’t want to date a Debbie Downer!
(14.) What’s your idea of the perfect date?
A ball game, duh! (Bonus points if there is stadium food involved and a post-game beer!)
(15.) What has been your proudest accomplishment to date and what are your goals for the future?
Getting my Bachelor’s degree… probably. The ultimate goal is to be the GM (or manager of operations) of a pro sports team by 2030. Ambitious or unrealistic? You decide…
(16.) Name something you do when you’re alone that you wouldn’t do in front of others.
Nothing! I am too much of a ridiculous person to hide any aspect of myself. Although if I cry… I always do that alone, never in front of others!
(17.) What are your three biggest pet peeves?
People who complain and do nothing about it. When things are not put away correctly (especially when there is a clear organizational system!) and being ignored.
(18.) If you had a round trip ticket to any destination in the world, where would you go and why?
Thailand. It’s been on my “to-go” list for years.
(19.) What advice would you give to your 16-year-old self?
Do everything you can – sleep when you’re dead.
(20.) What’s your most memorable moment as a sports fan?
The Boston Celtics winning the championship in 2008. I just got goosebumps thinking about it.
(21.) What are your guilty pleasures?
Gossip Girl and bourbon. Even better: Gossip Girl while drinking bourbon. YES.
(22.) Name five items you couldn’t live without.
My planner/calendar, sunscreen, Rayban Wayfarers, a really big blanket and weekly phone calls to my mom/sisters.
(23) What do you want to be remembered for?
For being a lot of fun to be around. Shallow, maybe… but important to me!
