SBOTD Presents: Sabrina Bridges, BDB Health Writer
Of course the first task I would be asked to do for Babes Dig Balls is create a bio. This by far will be my least favorite thing to write and the most difficult. I love sports and being athletic but lack real talent. “Those who can’t write” comes to mind. The human body is truly amazing in it’s ability to adapt and excel under stress. The capabilities of a professional football player to possess size, strength, speed and agility is truly miraculous. Early man was designed to run and be in constant motion but the differences between our ancestors and today’s athletes are astounding. I can’t wait to discuss with you how athletes compete and excel despite injury and physical limitations. But first here is a bit about me.
(1.) In three words, how would your friends describe you? Dedicated, Bold, Enthusiastic
(2.) Who are your favorite athletes or sports teams to watch? I’m southern I love college football!!! My favorite sports team is the University of South Carolina. GO COCKS!!!! My favorite athlete is Peyton Manning.
(3.) Peanut butter: crunchy or smooth? Neither. I’m not a big fan of peanut butter.
(4.) I love SBOTD but I pay my bills by: I’m a physical therapist assistant. I predominately work in pediatrics but my skill set leans to manual therapy and sports. I am certified in kinesio taping with training in myofascial techniques and aquatics. I’m also a certified personal trainer.
(5.) What’s in your DVD collection and/or what’s your favorite book? My favorite movie is Dodge Ball. Love it. When I’m on the go I always have a non-fiction book on my Kindle app. I love books about neurology, kinesiology and sports. Currently I’m reading a book about ultra trail running.
(6.) Growing up, did you have a role model or someone who inspired you to be who you are? My Mom. Everybody loves her. She has always given so much of herself to so many people so effortlessly. She still inspires me today.
(7.) Who would you bring back from the dead and what would you say to them? Wow what a disturbing question. LOL If I could talk to anyone post mortem it would be Leonardo Da Vinci. I’d love to discuss with him his research on human anatomy and embryology.
(8.) What song do you sing at karaoke – or would you sing if you had to? “Behind Every Good Woman” (if I were forced)
(9.) If you won a million dollars in a lottery, what would you do with it? Send the kids to college, go on a Medical Mission trip, train for a ½ ironman and go to an eclectic mix of sporting events (Football, Golf, Baseball, the Tour d’France, Boxing, MMA, Wimbeldon and the next Summer Olympics).
(10.) If you could interview any athlete, who would it be and why? I have a WTF were you thinking list I’d start with Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods and Pete Rose.
(11.) If you could be a fly on the wall in any sports team locker room, which one would it be and why? Any locker room in which Steve Spurrier is in at half time. He is always entertaining and I think it would be so much fun to listen to him go off.
(12.) Is there a motto, saying or core truth you try to live by? “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And you are the one who’ll decide where to go…” Dr Seuss
(13.) Are you single, dating, or locked down? What do you notice first about the opposite sex? Totally locked down. The first thing I notice about anyone male or female is their wit.
(14.) What has been your proudest accomplishment to date and what are your goals for the future? My proudest accomplishment is and always will be my children. I would love to continue to develop my skills and become an expert in manual therapy, complete an ultra marathon and/or a ½ ironman triathlon.
(15.) Name something you do when you’re alone that you wouldn’t do in front of others. New workouts. I like to try new things when other people aren’t watching.
(16.) What are your three biggest pet peeves? People who are rude and self centered. People who own SUVs and go around pot holes. Empty containers left in the pantry/fridge.
(17.) If you had a round trip ticket to any destination in the world, where would you go and why? Australia, it’s an amazing country and I’d love to spend some time there exploring.
(18.) What advice would you give to your 16-year-old self? You are athletic, Get out there and move.
(19.) What’s your most memorable moment as a sports fan? My first college football game, Clemson versus the University of Georgia. I was enthralled by the energy, rivalry and chaos.
(20.) What are your guilty pleasures? Chocolate, Cooking, and Spas.
(21.) Name five items you couldn’t live without. Vibram five fingers Komodo Sport LS, Kiniseo Tape, my iPhone Lifeproof case (I work around water), a good digital sports watch and deodorant. Ok the last item would more likely fall under the item you wouldn’t want me to live without.
(22) What do you want to be remembered for? My Joie de vivre.
