Well, we’ve all heard that phrase before. The NFL, or the No Fun League. There are currently rumors circulating that further reinforce the league’s nickname.

Several new sites are reporting that the NFL referees are telling players that the NFL is cracking down on touchdown celebrations. The rumored list may prohibit:
sack dances; home run swing; incredible hulk; spiking the ball; spinning the ball; throwing or shoving the ball; pointing; pointing the ball; verbal taunting; military salute; standing over an opponent (prolonged and with provocation); or dancing. In particular spinning the ball will most likely result in a 15-yard penalty if it is spun in such a way that the player is taunting his opponent.Deadspin has since re-reported that currently the spinning of the ball won’t apply to touchdown celebrations, but only as the team is moving the ball down the field.Either way; this is crazy talk. This is the NFL people. God forbid that we watch a game where the players have fun and celebrate their on field accomplishments. Who wants to watch people having fun? Head nods in affirmation that a touchdown was made only. Referees better watch how exuberantly they make the touchdown signal-don’t want the crowd to get the wrong idea. THIS IS A SERIOUS SPORT DAMMIT NOT A CHILDREN’S BIRTHDAY PARTY.Clearly, I’ve had little sleep, but I still think I make a valid argument. Touchdown celebrations are a part of the game. Fans love them and the players who make those touchdowns should be allowed to celebrate.
